GERMAN DAY.

                              October 18, 1898.

   A great parade of German Societies had been arranged as a part of their  
celebration.  This parade was postponed on account of the storm, but   their
exercises were held in the Auditorium at 3 o'clock P.M.  The   program was as
follows:

               Welcome   .    .    .    Mayor Moores
               Music     .    .    .    Orpheus Singing Society.
               Address   .    .    .    Wm. Rapp, Editor
                    Illinois Staatz Zeitung.

                    ANCIENT ORDER OF UNTIED WORKMEN DAY.

                              October 18, 1898.

       The parade of Workmen was also postponed on account of the weather.   
The exercises were held in the Auditorium at 1:30 o'clock P.M.  The   program
